MiniTweezers

A new generation of optical tweezers are the so-called miniTweezers. This new design conforms a much more compact and lighter setup (approximately, 10 kg) with improved computer control capabilities with respect to the table-based setup. This instrument affords unprecedented resolution and a great stability in the measurements. The miniTweezers instrument is capable of sub-picoNewton, sub-nanometer, millisecond resolution. These capabilities confer the instrument with a great versatility for a wide range of disciplines, making it a perfect tool in the area of molecular biology, biochemistry and biophysics, where it is possible to use it to manipulate and study single biomolecules.
